Covid-19 Safety Policy
We are Covid Secure - to keep everyone safe
Client health & safety
Client and therapist safety is the top priority – treatments will be given under the safest conditions, following all of the government guidelines to provide a COVID-19 secure environment.
The treatment room is well ventilated, cleaned after every treatment and the therapist will wear a face covering.
COVID-19 client risk assessment
Control measures are in place to manage risk at each step of the treatment, and each client will be individually risk assessed and managed accordingly.
Starling Holistic operates on an appointment-only system. If a client has tested positive with COVID-19 14 days prior to their treatment, they must contact Starling Holistic on 07766 050837 so the appointment can be postponed. If the client has mixed with anyone who has developed COVID-19 symptoms in the last 14 days, however mild, such as a new continuous cough, a high temperature or a loss or change to their taste or smell, the therapist must be informed. If a client has been advised to self-isolate, they should not attend the appointment.
Adherence to this process is essential in protecting the most clinically vulnerable clients.
If a client is not at risk of COVID-19, they should follow the below measures:
Pre-screening: The client must return the pre-screening questionnaire and client record form any time before the day of the treatment.
Before arrival: If the client is feeling unwell on the morning of the appointment, they must inform the therapist immediately. The client must bring their own water or drink, should they need this during or after their treatment. Social distancing measures will be observed, where practical.
To keep contact to a minimum, contactless payment is required in advance.
On arrival: The client must arrive alone for their appointment, no more than 5 minutes early, and should wear a face covering if they are able to do so. Although there is no longer a legal requirement to wear face coverings, it would be helpful to ensure that the risk of spreading the virus inadvertently is minimised.
The therapist will check the client’s temperature using a no-touch thermometer – should their temperature be raised, the appointment will be postponed.
The client should only bring the essential items necessary for their appointment, and coats and shoes will remain outside the treatment room. The room will be cleared from any unnecessary items. The client is asked to refrain from touching anything in the room on arrival, during, and on departure other than the necessary equipment. A plastic lidded box will be provided for their personal belongings. This will be sanitised at the end of the day.
The client to use the hand sanitiser or hand washing facilities upon entering the building. Liquid soap, hand sanitiser and paper towels are provided.
After treatment: If the client develops symptoms within 7 days of the visit, they are required to inform Starling Holistic immediately.
Additional treatment protocol:
Starling Holistic will keep the treatment room well ventilated between sessions through opening windows and doors. Hard floors will be sanitised between each client, as will doors, door handles, equipment, chairs, bathroom surfaces, door locks, toilet seat, toilet flush, taps, light switches, high traffic walls.
The therapist will take their own temperature before each treatment, wear a mask during the treatment, and will wash their hands properly before and after every treatment. The therapist will take a lateral flow test twice weekly.
Disposable couch roll will be used and the treatment couch sanitised for each treatment, and the couch cover will be changed between each client. Couch roll and any tissues will be disposed of in a waste bin (lined and foot operated). Any non-disposable items used will be sanitised between clients.
Separate towels will be used for each client. Used towels will be safely bundled and stored outside of the room and washed at the recommended temperature of 60°.
Any reusable equipment will be sanitised after each appointment and at the start and end of shifts. For example, client chairs, treatment beds, and tools.
Appointments will have a minimum gap of 30 minutes between each client, to abide by the social distancing guidelines and allow time for disinfecting and sanitising the room between appointments.
Starling Holistic commits to keep all clients up-to-date on how therapists are using and updating hygiene and safety measures as part of appointment confirmation emails and via the website.
